Radishes

I didn't feel like painting a small canvas today, I wanted to paint big and bold.  It took a few hours, but it was worth it.  I would like to rework some areas, but for today, this is it.

I painted this one mostly with a knife, but used a brush first.

Hibiscus

It took me a whole year to coaxed my hibiscus plant into giving me flowers again.
Palette knife technique, or rather, attempt, again.

I'll stay with the painting knife for a few days.

Apple

These last 2 paintings were done with a painting knife.  A first for me, and not as easy as I thought.  Each color has to go on once,  in the right direction and at the accurate value.  I messed up every time I tried to fix something.
Just trying something new and having a little fun while making the oil paint companies a little wealthier.

Blue Teacup

Trying painting with a knife.  It all started because I didn't want to use my brushes on a rough canvas.
I think I'm hooked!!

Windmills

I've been wanting to paint these windmills on the horizon for a very long time. Some people say that they're an eyesore, but I like them.  This is the first of many more attempts.

Pear on Pattern

I know that I have some kind of fascination with these cloth patterns.  I don't understand it, but won't fight it.

You're not suppose to use odd looking objects that may confuse your audience; sorry.

Oranges and Grapes

I started this painting yesterday and worked on it for a few hours today.  Once it dries up a little, I'll get back into it and change the cloth on the background.  It bothers me.

Oranges in a Jar

Working on something that I find difficult: things behind glass.  It'll take another go at it tomorrow to finish it.

Pear and Jug

I love painting this jug, everything else was put in the composition just to send color to it.

Coffee Pot with Grapes 2

This was a very quick, 20 minutes painting.  The setup was left over from Tuesday's and my palette was still laid out from yesterday's, so that made it a lot easier.
I love to paint ephemeral things, so I have to paint fast!

Still Life

The purpose of today's painting was to practice placing elements in the square.  This is a little different from my other still lifes, change is good.  I see a few things that need fixing, I might go back into this one, or not.

Oranges 2

It's not that I'm running out of ideas, I just thought that a square format would be a better choice than the previous one.
By the way, this one is #300, how time flies!!

Sunset 6

"Accept my homage, Earth, as I make my last obeisance of the day,
Bowed at the altar of the setting sun."
from the poem Earth, by Rabindranath Tagore

I wanted to share those lines that I find so beautiful.

Pottery

I saw a composition in a book and decided to try to copy it, more or less.  Master copying is a great exercise, and this made me use an arrangement that I wouldn't normally use.

Red Coffee Pot

I love this old coffee pot with the lid that won't seat right.  I think it has a great sense of humor and it belongs in a Mad Hatter tea party.
About the craft, I love working with reds, I'm not afraid or shy around them.  They bring out the best painterly qualities in me.
