Quick Tomatoes

I didn't want to fall into the routine of making a pretty picture; that was not my intention when I started this blog.  So, took on the Daily Paintworks challenge which was to divide a canvas into small sections, set the timer and paint each square in 10 minutes or less.  No cheating!  During the first 5 minutes, I thought I had all the time in the world, the second 5 minutes were a problem, they weren't as long as the first.  Anyway, this was a lot of fun, I'll do it often. It was a learning experience that will help me to use  thicker paint and give my work more texture. And, it's still a nice looking picture, nothing wrong with that.

Chiquita Bonita

Painting bananas is challenging, for me at least, but it was worth the time it took to paint them.  Besides, I wanted to use that title for quite a while.

Township Flag

I decided to go paint outdoors this morning.  It was cold and windy, so I stayed local.  I liked the Township flag and clock, so I attempted it.  Anyway, this is the finish product.  I'm not happy with it, but I will post the good, the bad and the ugly. I throw myself at the mercy of the court.
Whatever!

Camouflaged Teapot

This painting took a long time to compose, but painting it was fun.  I think I'll make a companion piece tomorrow since I have so much red paint left over!

Boulevard East

The Daily Paintworks challenge was to paint home, whatever that means to you.  I was born in Argentina and came to the US, Jersey City, New Jersey, to be exact, when I was 14 years old.  Home to me brings images of my homeland and it also brings the image of the New York City skyline as seen from NJ.  I was in awe of it when I first saw it and it takes my breath away to this day.  I don't know if I love one place more than the other, but it was easier to drive to Boulevard East.
This was done in plein air.
Proceeds from the auction of this painting will be donated to the American Red Cross to help the victims of the Japan earthquake.

Lake Around 7am

I painted this scene early today, won't have time later. I liked how the raising sun was lighting up a few things while the rest was kind of dull.  I hope you enjoy it.

Lunch

I'm very excited about my blog and my first post.  I thought it appropriate to paint something that I like so much.  My atelier friends will probably smile when they see this, because this is part of what I eat for lunch just about every day!!
The colors in the painting are a lot more vibrant than what you see here, I guess it's time to get a good camera.
PS: I have to figure out how to change the time, it's not 6:14am right now
